# How We Check Our Facts Last updated: 2 November 2026. Web page: https://shufti.com.au/editorial-standards. Shufti's checklists and buying guides are written for Australian buyers of used cars. These are the standards they're held to. ## What We Draw On - Official recall records, from the Australian Government's [Vehicle Recalls](https://www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au/) site. - Safety ratings from [ANCAP](https://www.ancap.com.au/). - Manufacturers' published information, such as warranty terms, service schedules and notices. - Independent motoring reviews and buyer's guides. - Owner reports, in owner reviews and forums. The buying guides also link the government pages they rely on, such as the PPSR and each state's transport department. ## When We Name a Problem We name a problem on a model page only when two or more independent sources report it, and we're linking sources beside the problems we name, so you can read the reports yourself. We word problems as reports, such as "owners report", because they're reported on a model, not found on every car. Each model page's figures carry a footnote saying what they're drawn from and when. ## What These Pages Are General guidance for a model, written for Australian buyers. Pages are reviewed before they're published, and updated when their sources change. They aren't a substitute for a mechanic's pre-purchase inspection or a [PPSR check](https://www.ppsr.gov.au/). Which problems apply to the particular car you're looking at is what the Tailored check in the [Shufti app](https://shufti.com.au/) is for. ## Reporting an Error If you think something on a page is wrong, email [hello@shufti.com.au](mailto:hello@shufti.com.au) with the page, what's wrong and, if you have one, a link to your source. When a correction changes a page, its "Last updated" date moves to the day of the change. --- Shufti is an Australian used car inspection app for iPhone and Android that tailors the inspection to the exact car you're looking at. It is not affiliated with Shufti Pro, the identity verification (KYC) company. From the listing link, it builds every check around that car's make, model and year, odometer reading and the seller's description. It runs PPSR and government recall checks, crosschecks a database of more than 3 million recalls and owner complaints, flags problems from your photos and audio, plans a test drive, produces a shareable report with repair cost estimates, and coaches you through the negotiation. A Tailored check costs $24.99, or $49.99 for three, including PPSR and recall checks. A mechanic's pre-purchase inspection costs $250–350. To start, Shufti's General inspection guide is free: pick the car's make and model, and it takes you through the checks that matter for that model, on your phone. There's a guide for popular models, and one for every type of car. Made by Frontpoint Digital Pty Ltd (ABN 23 669 870 366), Melbourne, Australia. Contact: hello@shufti.com.au.
