How We Check Our Facts
Last updated
Shufti's checklists and buying guides are written for Australian buyers of used cars. These are the standards they're held to.
What We Draw On
- Official recall records, from the Australian Government's Vehicle Recalls site.
- Safety ratings from ANCAP.
- Manufacturers' published information, such as warranty terms, service schedules and notices.
- Independent motoring reviews and buyer's guides.
- Owner reports, in owner reviews and forums.
The buying guides also link the government pages they rely on, such as the PPSR and each state's transport department.
When We Name a Problem
We name a problem on a model page only when two or more independent sources report it, and we're linking sources beside the problems we name, so you can read the reports yourself.
We word problems as reports, such as "owners report", because they're reported on a model, not found on every car. Each model page's figures carry a footnote saying what they're drawn from and when.
What These Pages Are
General guidance for a model, written for Australian buyers. Pages are reviewed before they're published, and updated when their sources change.
They aren't a substitute for a mechanic's pre-purchase inspection or a PPSR check. Which problems apply to the particular car you're looking at is what the Tailored check in the Shufti app is for.
Reporting an Error
If you think something on a page is wrong, email hello@shufti.com.au with the page, what's wrong and, if you have one, a link to your source.
When a correction changes a page, its "Last updated" date moves to the day of the change.
